Family Partners of Morris & Sussex Counties
Deadline: December 7
Family Partners of Morris & Sussex Counties is having its annual family holiday celebration on December 10 at the American Legion Post 278, Stanhope, N.J. Family Partners serves families that have children with emotional, behavioral, or mental health challenges and is looking for general gifts items for youth, ages 2-21 (toys, games, stuffed animals, learning toys, $10 Walmart gift certificates). There are approximately 100 kids that attend the Holiday Party.

The Sussex County YMCA and Salvation Army

Tags will be displayed on the Christmas tree inside the lobby of the Y to donate gifts to specific families given by the Salvation Army along with supporting families with the gift of Y programs and services. Food Collections
Lake Hopatcong Foundation
Deadline: Sunday, December 6
Lake Hopatcong Foundation has set up an online food donation drive through You Give Goods.com and is collecting food for the food pantries at West Side Methodist Church in Hopatcong, St. Peter’s Episcopal Church in Mt. Arlington, Our Lady Star of the Sea in Lake Hopatcong and the Hurdtown Methodist Church in Lake Hopatcong. Purchase needed food items on the You Give Goods website and they will be delivered through this website directly to the food pantries. Food items can be purchased online at the LHF You Give Goods page https://yougivegoods.com/lhf-holidayfooddrive-2015.

DASI: Domestic Abuse & Sexual Assault Intervention Services
Collections are ongoing
DASI provides shelter and support services for victims of domestic and sexual violence in Sussex County and is collecting food for its shelter and food pantry, including fresh and frozen items. Gift cards for Shop Rite and Walmart are also welcome. DASI always welcomes holiday cash donations too.

Sparta Food Pantry

Sussex County Social Services Food Pantry
Collections are ongoing
Items needed are those required to feed a family: shelf stable milk, cereal, peanut butter, jelly, crackers, meals in a can, soup, tuna or other proteins in a can. Personal items are always in need as is pet food. Also welcome are cash donations through which perishable food goods or vouchers are purchased as needed.

Donations can be made to the food pantry at 83 Spring Street, Newton, NJ, Monday through Friday between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. (special arrangements can be made for after hour donations).

Pass it Along Coat Drive for Project Self Sufficiency

Pass It Along is collecting gently used coats to be donated to families in need in the area. Notes of inspiration are written and placed into the pocket of each coat that is collected through the coat drive and then distributed during the PSS Holiday Toy Shop event held in December. The Department for Persons with Disabilities (DPD) is in need of support this Christmas Season and there are numerous ways that you can help.

1. Make a donation to DPD’s Happiness Tree Fundraiser and receive a handmade ornament made by a person with disabilities.
2. Purchase your Christmas cards through DPD. All boxes are assembled by people with intellectual or developmental disabilities. www.dpd.org/card.

Earth Angels Senior Citizen Outreach

Earth Angels provide holiday cheer to a targeted population of Sussex County’s senior citizens. Below are suggested donations:

 

  • Gift Cards from: Walmart, ShopRite, Weis, Hayek’s Market, Kohl’s, Visa, Master Card,Pharmacies, Liberty Towers Hair Salon, and the Homestead Hair Salon (suggested value $20.00).
  • Household: Throw blankets, towels, flashlights, batteries, magnifying glasses, jar openers, night lights
  • Toiletries: Full size shampoo, conditioner, first aid items, tissues
  • Pet Supplies: Food and toys for dogs, cats, birds
  • Stationery: Postage stamps, all occasion greeting cards, writing paper, envelopes,pens, note pads, post-it notes
  • Other: Large print books, crossword puzzles, word searches, candy and cookies,including sugar-free, holiday decorations
  • Monetary donations by check made payable to the Senior Quality of Life Foundation, Inc. (SEQUAL) are also being accepted (tax deductible to the extent allowed by law). Donations will be used to purchase items on the donation list.

The pet shelter is always in need of items that help care for its animals. Of particular need is: canned cat food, Clorox bleach wipes, bottles of bleach and paper towels. Campership Tuition for Child With Type 1 Diabetes
Give the gift of the Camp Nejeda summer camp experience to a Sussex County child with type 1 diabetes! Donate to provide Campership tuition to a child with diabetes who wishes to attend camp but lacks the financial means to pay for full or partial tuition. No donation is too small and every dollar makes an impact by contributing to the opportunity for a Sussex County child with diabetes to be free to just be a child and to enjoy a fun and educational camping experience in a safe learning environment.
