The Sussex County Economic Development Partnership (SCEDP) is dedicated to supporting businesses impacted by the novel coronavirus. The State of NJ and federal recommendations are evolving rapidly, and public officials are working to quickly and clearly communicate new guidelines for businesses to follow and assistance available.

May 20, 2020 - NJ Department of Health (DOH) provides guidance regarding the resumption of elective surgeries and invasive procedures by ambulatory surgery centers and hospitals.
May 20, 2020: Governor Murphy’s Administrative Order allows car dealerships, motorcycle dealerships, boat dealerships, and bicycle shops to reopen.
May 18, 2020: Governor Murphy Unveils Multi-Stage Approach to Execute a Responsible and Strategic Restart of New Jersey’s Economy. See the plan HERE.
May 15, 2020 - Governor Murphy releases Executive Order, No. 143, which reopens the State’s beaches and lake communities effective May 22nd with several restrictions.
May 14, 2020 - Governor Murphy releasesExecutive Order 142 permitting the resumption of non-essential construction, curbside pickup at non-essential retail businesses, and gatherings in cars.
May 10, 2020: Chamber President Tammie Horsfield sends second letter to Governor Murphy.
May 8, 2020: NJ Department of Education releases memo for COVID-19: Virtual Graduation Celebrations with compiled tips and suggestions for holding virtual graduation ceremonies and related celebratory activities to honor this year’s graduating class while ensuring the health and safety of the school community during the COVID-19 emergency.

May 2, 2020: Administrative Order No. 2020-11 - Construction of new religious facilities or construction involving existing religious facilities shall be considered essential construction projects.
May 2, 2020: Governor Murphy Signs Executive Order 136 Extending Statutory Deadlines for Various Environmental Laws.
May 1, 2020: Governor Phil Murphy today signed Executive Order No. 135, suspending in-person requirements for receipt of a marriage license and marriage ceremonies, and for the receipt of working papers for minors.
April 28, 2020: Governor Phil Murphy signed Executive Order # 130, which authorizes a municipality to extend the grace period for the collection of 2nd quarter property taxes to June 1st.

April 27, 2020: Additional Funding Authorized For PPP Loan Forgiveness Program.
April 23, 2020: The IRS has begun distributing Economic Impact Payments (EIPs), known as Stimulus Payments. Most people will receive their payments automatically requiring no further action. Most Social Security, Railroad Retirement, SSI and VA beneficiaries payments will automatically be deposited into bank accounts. The IRS is currently unable to answer questions about payment status over the phone, but individuals can check the status of a payment online. April 23, 2020: MVC Agency, Inspection Station Closures Extended Until May 11.

April 21, 2020: Paycheck Protection Program and Health Care Enhancement Act.
April 17, 2020: The Federal Reserve has announced that it is establishing a Main Street Lending Program to support lending to small and medium-sized businesses that were in good financial standing before the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic. CLICK HERE for more information.
April 16, 2020 - Funding has been exhausted for the $350 billion small business Paycheck Protection Program (PPP). The SBA is currently unable at this time to accept new aid applications or enroll new lenders.

Tuesday, April 14, 2020: Senate & General Assembly Establishes NJ Hospitality Emergency Loan Program in NJEDA to provide no-interest loans to qualified small hospitality businesses; makes $5 million appropriation to NJEDA.
April 9, 2020: Governor Murphy announced Executive Order No. 123 to extend a 60-day grace period for health and dental insurance, as well as a 90-day grace period for home, auto, life and renters insurance, for residents who are unable to pay their insurance premiums because of the financial hardship caused by COVID-19.
April 4, 2020: Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) - The Paycheck Protection Program is perhaps the biggest item for business owners in the $2 trillion Coronavirus Aid, Relief and Economic Security, or CARES, Act that was passed last week by the federal government.
March 31, 2020: NJEDA ANNOUNCES APPLICATION LAUNCH DATE FOR GRANTS FOR BUSINESSES IMPACTED BY COVID-19. The New Jersey Economic Development Authority (NJEDA) will launch the application for its Small Business Emergency Assistance Grant Program on Friday, April 3, 2020 at 9:00 am.
March 30, 2020: Governor Phil Murphy and State Police Colonel Patrick Callahan enacted an Administrative Order amending which businesses are permitted to operate and clarifying ways in which some businesses may operate in accordance with Executive Order No. 107. Updates pertain to realtors, car dealers, golf courses and firearms sales.
March 27, 2020: The Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act allocated $350 billion to help small businesses keep workers employed amid the pandemic and economic downturn. Known as the Paycheck Protection Program,the initiative provides 100% federally guaranteed loans to small businesses.
